IL LORO EROE IDEALE
Qualche anno fa il sito romance Bookbugontheweb pubblicò i risultati di un sondaggio interessantissimo che mirava a tracciare l'dentikit del perfetto eroe romantico, cercando di delinearne le principali qualità. Per farlo si pensò di partire dall'idea personale che di questo eroe avevano le più famose autrici romance statunitensi. A ciascuna autrice fu rivolta la stessa domanda :
"In your opinion, what qualities should a hero always have?"
“ Secondo voi, che qualità dovrebbe sempre avere un eroe ?"
Ecco le loro risposte :

Qualità fondamentali di un vero eroe sono le antiche qualità eroiche: onore coraggio e determinazione. Nulla e’ cambiato dalle origini della narrativa. Cerchiamo ancora le stesse cose oggi in un eroe.
2. Donna Kauffman: A hero should be strong enough to stand by his convictions...and smart enough to know when to follow his heart instead of his head.
Un eroe deve essere sufficientemente forte da sostenere le proprie convinzioni…e abbastanza furbo da sapere quando seguire il suo cuore invece della sua testa.

9.Jo Beverley: I have to expound upon a couple of points first. Readers like different sorts of heroes, so my answer will be to what qualities a hero should always have to work for ME. My second point is that heroes change throughout a book. Some more than others, but a character without any change and growth would be very boring. However, it's the qualities they bring into the book that make the book work or not, not those they end up with. For example, the ability to trust is high on my list for qualities essential for the future of the relationship, but I can live with a character who can't trust throughout most of the book if there are credible reasons. Therefore, I'm talking about qualities that are there at the beginning of the book. Given that: intelligence, honor, and a sense of humour.
Prima devo chiarire un paio di punti. Le lettrici amano tipologie diverse di eroi, perciò la mia risposta riguarderà le qualità che un eroe deve sempre avere per funzionare per ME. Secondo punto è che gli eroi cambiano nel corso del romanzo. alcuni più di altri, ma un personaggio che non cambia e non si evolve sarebbe noioso. Comunque sono le qualità che essi apportano al romanzo che lo fanno più o meno funzionare, non quelle che finiscono per avere. Per esempio, l'abilità di fidarsi di qualcuno è alta nella mia lista delle qualità essenziali per il futuro di un rapporto, però posso convivere con un eroe che non riesce a fidarsi per buona parte del romanzo se le ragioni per farlo sono credibili. Perciò mi riferisco a qualità che sono presenti sin dall'inizio del racconto . Ciò premesso, esse sono: intelligenza, onore e senso dell'umorismo.

11.Roberta Gellis: I think you will find the characteristics of a romance hero the same for every writer, although each may use different words to describe them. For me, the hero must be physically appealing (this does not mean handsome; one of my heroes was described as being so ugly that no one who saw him ever forgot his face), intelligent, and softhearted. Un eroe dovrebbe essere tenero, gentile, fedele e abbastanza forte da superare qualsiasi difetto del proprio carattere ( con l'aiuto dell'eroina naturalmente). Deve essere sicuro del proprio valore, sapere cosa vuole e non aver paura di ottenerlo. I miei eroi sono sempre eroi Alpha, forti, resistenti ed energici. Essere un buon amante è un prerequisito.

Deve essere totalmente preso dall'eroina anche se per una qualche ragione egli combatte questo sentimento. Deve essere forte nel senso che non si lascia schacciare dalle avversità o non lascia che il passato rovini il suo futuro. Deve avere integrità, onestà , che deve essere una qualità che si vede crescere e svilupparsi con il personaggio, e il senso dell'umorismo. Non nel senso che debba far morir dal ridere, ma capace di intravedere la luce alla fine del tunnel e di far star bene l'eroina.

Gli eroi, secondo me, dovrebbero sempre essere meno di quello che appaiono. Sì, meno, non più. All'esterno sono forti, protettivi e spesso alpha. All'inteno, però, devono avere un cuore vulnerabile e frangile che solo un'unica donna può aggiustare.

Ognuna di noi ha in testa una (o più) immagini del suo eroe romantico ideale quando legge un romanzo rosa e quanto più quello rappresentato nel romanzo si avvicina a quell' ideale, tanto più il romanzo riesce a coinvolgerci da vicino. Ma com' è questo ideale? Qual è la definizione che si avvicina di più a quella del vostro eroe romantico preferito? E' uno solo o un mix di vari, come spesso accade? E quali sono le qualità che deve assolutamente avere (o non avere) per farvi innamorare di lui ( letterariamente parlando,s'intende)?
